~*Gone but Not Forgotten*~

~*Gone but Not Forgotten*~

Sometimes things happen without rhyme or reason,
They can be as mysterious as the changing seasons,
It’s a hard thing to deal with, young life cut so short
Your footsteps well never again grace the tennis court,
Well, at least not here on the physical Earth. The angles
Will be blessed with your smile and giant warm and
Loving heart. When we look up at the stars at night
You will be there to lead us on a path that is right.

We may as why? Why so soon did you have to
Go? That question will never have an answer.
Though that may lead us to be vexed, our hearts will
Heal over time. If we remember the good you have done
And the people you touched. The children that will receive
Locks of your formerly long hair, how grateful they will be
For the gift that you gave. Life is never easy at any point,
So I guess some things just need to be left unanswered.

It doesn’t really matter how it happened, the fact is your gone.
So, we will just remember you and some how move on.
Whether we run to take away the pain, or sing or dance,
Play our music loud, or just sit and cry to relieve the stress.
Your family and friends will all miss you immensely, but we
Know you are watching us from somewhere up in the big blue
You would want us to go on, and keep living life.

Brandon teach everyone up there how to do the ‘Tornado"
Or the ‘Nader" as I liked to call it. Play them in tennis
Maybe even challenge my Grandpa and my dads
Best friend Noel to a match, they would love that.
Make um laugh up there like you did us.
Oh and hey man just one more thing,
Have a super great time with those wings.

The world lost a great guy on
April 10, 2004; we love you and will never forget
Thank you for the good times. I didn’t get to talk to you
Much second semester, that doesn’t matter, have fun
In heaven and we will remember.

I wrote this only about 2 1/2 hrs after finding out one of my friends and high school classmates, (though he was Junior as was his passenger, I was a Senior) died in a car accident along with his passenger. So, though at the end of the poem, I talk about "a great guy," the world lost two great guys. I just did not really know Darren other than by name, so this was my initial raw emotion about Brandon.

Compass Point

~*Compass Point*~

Compass point,
To direction not known...
Where?... Can't say, who knows....
Out there...Out there....Go, Go, Go
When...how...who...who? Why...
Me that's who.
Only I...only me...
Set it free...free to be, there...
There where?...
Can't say, who knows....
Only me, only I, open the door...
Step out...out there...
To where?...
Can't say, who knows....

Out There

*~Out There~*

See the clouds and sky,
Far beyond the ordinary...
Where the horizon meets the ocean
and the ocean horizon meets
The frontier of black velvet and diamonds...
All things blend to one
The colors mix and bleed...
Endeavoring to fullfill an aching need...
Whispered thoughts transcend on the wind,
Waiting for listening ears, mind, soul...
It's a place inside which begs to be found,
To be unlocked....the doors opened wide...
Searching, yearing, seeking to find
Serenity in the storm of life....
Where my heart really, truly resides......

*~Gum & Rocks~*

~*Gum*~

When walk’n round,
In bare feet...
Beware!!
Of sticky, icky,
Gum on
the ground!

~*Dirt*~

Rocks in one pocket,
dirt in the other…
Mixed up with
precious “treasures!”
Mud caked shoes
filled with grimy socks...
Grass stains on the knees
Of their pants…
Gritty, slimy, hands.
Tonight, they will
dream of
‘Far off lands’…
It is safe to say,
The kids…
had a wonderful,
Enchanting, day of play…

Wide

~*Wide*~

Spreading wide, far...
Expansive, strong, triumphant...
Pointed to unknown...
Sky, sea, land...
Freedom of flight...
unrestrained...
Out of the fire,
the ashes...
Always comes new...
carry still...
Knowledge of,
before...
Old wings shed...
helping guide now...
I look to me...
You...
My heart...
Beating a steady,
Rhythm of...
Beauty, Passion,
of...
Love...

Sharks & T-Shirts

~*The Dog & The Shark*~

The dog ran into the surf,
Chasing a moving fin...
The people and I gasped,
Crazy pooch get out of there!
That’s not your turf…
But the curious canine,
sniffed and licked
Trying to follow in pursuit…
The shark though,
Seemingly uninterested in
this fury, four legged creature…
Decided to continue
on its’ swimming way.
Lucky for the pup,
who finally ran back to land…
He did not make a new,
toothy friend,
In the watery sand.

~*The T-Shirt*~

It’s the T-shirt seen
Round’ the world…
Coming in a myriad of colors,
From which to pick.
Big shirts, little shirts,
All the in between…
That's right, pets too!
Seems like everybody has one
They appear to pop up here,
There, almost anywhere...
The souvenir people just
Had to buy...
‘Look here I was on
The South Beach side's
famous cafe & H.H.I!’
Get online watch them
Be made…
Press, press, design, design...
See how they go around…
and down the line.
Yes, it’s Salty…
It’s crazy Doggy…
This logo'd cotton wonder…
Being all the rage.
As for me…
I left it on the shelf and rack
I bought C. Zodiac's
instead…

Where They Walked

*~Where They Walked~*

Over the grounds they walked,
So do I…
Through the halls they stepped,
So do I…
Between the walls they learned in,
So do I...
Soon, to the same Alma Mater will I walk,
Into the next frontier…
I always knew I would walk where they walked…
I will do it justice.
For I am a proud Grandchild,
To proud Grandparents.
